We cats study Mewsashi and The Book of Five Food Bowls.
Five bowls are placed before each kitten. What is done with each matters more than what the vessel contains.
The first bowl arrives before the food does. Creativity sometimes makes the feline wait. The temptation is to fill the empty space with the first idea that comes along. Patience gives a better chance for one to arrive.
The second bowl doesn’t stay full for long. When the moment comes, we cats have to recognize it. An idea can arrive before we are prepared for it, and hesitation can be just as costly as rushing.
The third bowl rarely contains exactly what was expected. Cats learn to work with what arrives. A small idea may not look like much at first, but dismissing it because something grander was expected can mean overlooking the beginning of something worth making.
The fourth bowl teaches restraint. Cats know the temptation to take one more bite. Creators know it too. The song sounds finished, but the paw still reaches for the controls. Restraint is knowing when to leave them alone.
The fifth bowl is always empty. Cats stare into it, expecting to find something. Instead, the empty bowl leaves them with a question: Why?
For a creator, that may be the most important bowl of all.
