Sweet Thing is a Mack-n-Cheeze Music production. The song’s creation began from humble origins. The track has actually been lying around for several years. My intent was to remix it, but I am flat out pressed for time. There is no point in wasting decent content.

From just an iPhone 4 and the basic tools of GarageBand, the starting loops emerged. Thaddeus Wilson took these loops and added his lyrical touch. He breathed narrative and depth into the budding melody.

The core of many songs is their rhythm, and this track was no exception. The rhythm is based around Eric Ritts’s foundational bass lines and my drum track. Michel Boyers rhythm guitar parts dance around the melody. I played keys and programmed the sequences.

As with most compositions, ‘Sweet Thing’ was a fluid project. It underwent several recordings to fine-tune its sound. Dave Tieman’s lead guitar work, including his signature Chicken-Picken counter melodies and closing solo, brought nuanced depth to the piece.

To accompany this auditory journey, Cristo Cola created a complementary visual story. As usual, Cristo produced a video that heightened the emotional engagement of ‘Sweet Thing’.
