In the dim glow of the studio, the idea for Sahara was born.
Sahara: A Mack-n-Cheeze Music Video
Sahara began as a humble bass exercise, a simple lesson in intervallic playing. In Pete Johnsen’s lesson, he could envision a musical journey. There was something more in the notes, a whisper of a tune waiting to emerge. Inspired by the melody of the bass line, Sahara traversed countless iterations.
The cadence evolved like a sculpture revealed from stone. The raw and unyielding process of creation pushed him forward.
Pete sought Michael Clune’s involvement, which was crucial. Michael modified some of the drum patterns and chordal structure. He stepped in with quiet confidence, his hands deft in pre-production. Embracing the potential in the Sahara, he sharpened the edges. The piece began to breathe, each note coming alive with purpose. It was the collaborative effort, the blend of minds and skills, that breathed life into Sahara.
Enter Mack-n-Cheeze
Myself, here at Mack-n-Cheeze, took the helm in post-production. I added layers; textures that neither Pete nor Michael had considered. My touch was light but transformative.
There were no guitars on the track. Pete took my lead as we reviewed my sample library. Where the loops faltered, Pete laid in guitar tracks with his custom-built Telecaster knock-off. The guitars sang with an almost haunting clarity. I introduced my own samples that gave the piece an organic feel, a warmth that belied its digital roots. Once robotic and rigid, the drums now flowed with a human touch. My guidance pushed Sahara from a great idea into a rich and fully professional product.
The video production fell to Cristo Cola. His eye for detail was impeccable, his direction precise. He choreographed the dancer to the music, each movement a visual echo of the melody. The dancer’s grace brought a new dimension to Sahara. Her body weaves through the song. Her expression tells a story that words can not capture. The video became a visual symphony.
As the final cut played, Pete watched in silence. Sahara had grown from a mere exercise into something extraordinary. It was a testament to the power of collaboration, of vision and hard work.
In the end, Sahara isn’t only a song. It is a journey, a testament to the process of creation. It speaks of dedication, of the melding of minds and the fusion of talents. Sahara is a rich endorsement of the spirit we all breathed into it. The video and music tells its story. And that story is the echo of every note, every beat, and every graceful movement.
