How did my own, personal Groundhog Day happen? I
- I played my first Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in 1977. There is a definite vibe and personification of this organization. Lots of great people adding amazing contributions to our communities. The same goes for the Moose, Lions, Masons and VFW organizations. Great organizations making incredible contributions.
Every 5 to 6 years I end up at a gig for one of these organizations.
Here’s the thing. I’m not sure if its endemic to the organizations or the culture of contribution. It seems to me the same folks I played for in 1977 follow me from decade to decade; like ghosts. My own personal Jacob Marleys; apparitions of gigs past. The exact same people!!!
Am I in a time warp? What the?……..Am I sane?………Am I actually seeing what I think I’m seeing? Why do these people follow me around? Are those voices in my head? Should I seek help?
Shall I Save the Last Dance For You? Is it really Bad, Bad Leroy Brown, baddest man in the whole damn town? Am I really playing Proud Mary, left a good job in the city? Can anyone in my audience relate to this situation?

Why I have allowed this to happen? Am I so desperate to have a gig that I actually agreed to this?
I do not need the money. I do not need to spend time rehearsing these songs. Has it really been this long between gigs?
I just want to play, that’s all. Is it worth it? All I want to do is play out!!!!!!

…..campers, rise and shine! – and don’t forget your booties ’cause its cold out there!
If we can do anything for please for you, please ask.
Cheers.

Hey Bryan, the timing on this is perfect! Thanks for the much needed clarity and the side smirk!
