Darnell, Eric, and I are tangled in our rehearsal-room debate.
Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

The whiteboard’s covered in half-scribbled setlists, arrows, cross-outs, more confusion than clarity. We can’t agree if the show should explode right out of the gate or build slowly and steadily. Every idea sounds good until it doesn’t.
That’s when Otis pushes the door open with a casual paw. He doesn’t hurry. He rarely does; languidly stretching long on the carpet, spine bending like he’s mocking our tension, then jumps onto a flight case. He looks at us like three kids who’ve already missed the point.
Without preamble, he says, “Elvis once put it plainly: ‘Ambition is a dream with a V8 engine.’”
We stare, waiting for more.
Otis licks his paw, bored. “That’s your problem. You’ve got the dream, but no engine. You’re building a show like you’re afraid to step on the gas. People don’t buy tickets to watch you hesitate; they’re there to feel the rush. Give them a ride. Start the ignition. Don’t just play songs, drive the night.”
He sniffs at the floor, stretches again, and saunters toward the door. His tail flicks once before he disappears down the hall.
The room stays quiet. Darnell taps a rhythm on the table, Eric leans back in his chair, and I find myself staring at the empty doorway.

Can We Help You?
What is the engine of your dream?

Dreams don’t move without an engine. So here’s the challenge: stop hesitating, hit the gas, and drive your own dream. If this hit you where it counts, share it, drop your thoughts in the comments, and subscribe, because Otis’s gospel isn’t done preaching.
