Otis Speaks: The Commandments of Sound

Welcome to the ongoing development of Otis Speaks; today he proylitises on the commandments of sound. This post is based in the Gospel According To Otis: Lesson Three

Jeff Fried, of Magik Arts, began by developing the concept with ChatGPT, based upon my previous post, instead of jumping straight into video generation. That decision mattered because OpenArt Director charges while it works. Every revision costs time and money, so solving the creative problems before rendering became part of the production process rather than an afterthought.

Once the storyboard and shooting script were established, Jeff moved the project into to generate the video clips. The first draft came together with fewer revisions, and mistakes were easier to correct. One feature proved especially valuable: Director outputs dialogue and music on separate tracks. That gave Jeff control over the final mix instead of accepting whatever background music an AI happened to generate.

Director is not an inexpensive tool, but it changes where the work happens. More of the thinking is done up front with ChatGPT, leaving Director to do what it does best: create and refine the footage.

The process – Develop the storyboard and script with ChatGPT and AI image tools, generate the clips in OpenArt Director, then assemble and finish the project in Director or DaVinci Resolve, depending on the edit.
