Driving by braille might get you moving, but it won’t get you where you want to go.

For years, I mistook instinct for direction and hustle for progress. I was grinding, saying yes to everything, thinking momentum would somehow lead to meaning. It didn’t. Instead, I found myself stuck in a cycle of motion without vision, tired, burned out, and still miles from where I wanted to be.
The Blind Path
Being directionless doesn’t always feel chaotic. Sometimes, it feels like movement. Late-night rehearsals, touring, and packed schedules. You’re busy. You’re grinding, but you know something is missing.
That is the past me. I was chasing the feeling of progress, not the reality. Isn’t showing up enough? Isn’t momentum the purpose?
Everything feels like a maybe when you don’t know where you’re going. You say yes to projects you shouldn’t, play with people who drain your energy, and confuse distraction with opportunity.
It’s like being in a car at night with no headlights. You move, but you’re guessing. You tap the brakes, drift a little, bump into things. And occasionally, you swear you’re close to something great, only to find you’ve been going in circles.
Directionlessness breeds burnout. You think you are going somewhere, but you are not.
And the worst part? On the outside, people might think you’re thriving. You’re “in a band,” you’re “on the scene,” you’re “hustling.” But inside, you’re tired, not from the work but from the weight of uncertainty.
There’s no shame in that. It happens when you’re passionate but not focused. When you want to create but haven’t asked yourself what matters.
The good news? Clarity is a decision. You don’t need a master plan; it’s a first step in the right direction. A reason, a goal, and the line you won’t cross again.
That’s when things start to change.
If you’re stuck in that fog, spinning your wheels without traction, know this: you’re not alone. But you can get back in control.
Turn on the lights. Choose the road. And this time, drive with purpose.
